It mixes well-known facts, and descriptions by survivors of gulag camps, with comments and observations worth discussing. How readable is my book? How suitable is it for those who know very little about dark pages of Soviet history? I hope that such questions will be addressed in the review. Or send me a comment.

On 2/26/2009 one reader wrote to me in private: "Your book was very educational. Chapter 7 Ê& the exchanges with the professors was informative. I bought a few copies to pass along." I was touched by this. Unfortunately, the book does not generate as much general interest as I expected. But what can an author do?
