The NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) MISR mission is sponsoring a Workshop on Ecological Modeling using Multiangle Remote Sensing on September 20, 2005, 8:00am - 4pm, at the Greenbelt Marriott, 6400 Ivy Lane, Greenbelt, Maryland, 20770, phone: (301) 441-3700. This follows a FREE Workshop on Exploring and Using Multi-angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR) data held in the same location on the previous day; participants may like to attend both meetings.

The workshop has been organized to facilitate the exchange of ideas between members of the ecological modeling community and remote sensing scientists; to provide the remote sensing team with details of ecosystem modelers' needs; and to acquaint modelers with current multiangle imaging capabilities, limitations and future possibilities. The focus will be on ecosystem models that can either directly use or assimilate information on canopy structure derived from multiangle remote sensing; mainly but not exclusively the Multiangle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR) on the Terra satellite. We anticipate a relatively small gathering allowing time for in-depth discussions on important topics of interest to both groups, including but not limited to:
