March 6, 2013: House Votes to Increase Weather Satellite Funding
Late 2012: News on mapping Arctic tundra (see the Results section)
Late 2011: NPP was launched into orbit October 28, 2011! NPP has the VIIRS (Visible Infrared Imager Radiometer Suite) instrument that is the successor to the MODIS and AVHRR instruments -- this is an important launch. Let's hope that all the instruments check out ok post-launch. So far: ATMS First Light was on November 8, 2011; VIIRS First Light was on November 21, 2011. Visit the main NPP site at GSFC

June 2011: Following the losses of OCO and Glory at launch, Aquarius launch success on June 10 via Delta II! (the Taurus XL failed to launch both OCO and Glory).
March 2011: DESDynI and CLARREO missions cancelled; the Glory satellite follows OCO's fate and ends up in the Pacific Ocean; while Europe's Earthcare lidar goes ahead.

Forest and shrub mapping with NASA EOS multiangle remote sensing data (MISR, MODIS)...

It's important to note that the Forest Service and MISR/GO maps were made using completely different methods and that the MISR/GO estimates of fractional woody plant cover and canopy height are not calibrated or scaled: they rely only on the geometric-optical model adjusted against MISR data.
