The Fellows in the Middle program offers tremendous research-related, educational, and financial benefits to graduate-student participants.  However, you must commit to all required aspects of the program for 2008-2009 by initialing the space next to each program component listed below.

 

·          Be enrolled in full-time graduate studies in a CSAM discipline. _______

 

·          Participate in the program’s Summer Institute for one month from mid-May through mid-June, 2008. (Hands-on activities, field experiences, science and mathematics standards for the classroom, field trip training, manipulatives, school visits, educational games, lesson preparation.)  ________

 

·          In teams, present lessons in late August. _______

 

·          Work with middle grades students in their schools two-full days (approximately 10 hours per week) between September, 2008 and June, 2009.  _______

 

·          Participate in all aspects of the program during the school year, including but not limited to professional development meetings (2 hours) at MSU once a month ________

 

·          Conduct research related to graduate studies and meet regularly with your research advisor and other project personnel to produce publishable articles. _______

 

·          Participate in all assessment activities. ______

 

·          Participate in the Summer Institute from June 1-July 31st, 2009 mentoring new Fellows and revising lessons. _______
